SUMMARY:All-Canada Convention
DESCRIPTION:Mapleton Church of Christ and St. Thomas Christian Church are excited to invite you to the All Canada Convention in August of this year. The planning committee has been meeting for several months and putting together an excellent program to host all of Canada. \n\n\n\nTheme: Open Table\, Open Tent\, based on Isaiah 54:2 “Enlarge the place of your tent\, stretch your tent curtains wide\, do not hold back; lengthen your cords\, strengthen your stakes.” \n\n\n\nThe conference’s key note speaker will be Lori Ransom. She serves as a Reconciliation and Indigenous Justice Animator for the United Church of Canada. Other workshops may include Ecumenical theme\, Indigenous spirituality\, Watercolour painting\, Nutrition and Brain Health and speakers from the General Church. Sign up for workshops will be available closer to the event. \n\n\n\nRev. Wesley King\, our Associate Executive Minister of Administration\, will deliver a workshop on what New Church Ministry provides the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada\, and a look ahead at what to expect. \n\n\n\nActivities will begin on Thursday for those arriving early. Friday will feature a full day of workshops. On Saturday\, we will gather for the Annual General Meeting (AGM)\, worship\, and a free evening banquet. Sunday morning worship followed by lunch will conclude the gathering.

DESCRIPTION:Hebrews 10:23-25 (NRSV)23 Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering\, for he who has promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds\, 25 not neglecting to meet together\, as is the habit of some\, but encouraging one another\, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. \n\n\n\n\nFor the first communities to believe in Jesus\, formed in Jerusalem\, Peter and John’s inspiration of the Spirit was vital. Before a council’s verdict\, they responded\, “…judge; for we cannot keep from speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4: 19- 20) Amid our “community of communities\,” we\, like these first communities\, are facing the same challenges and injustices everywhere. Much in the same way\, we are compelled\, and “provoked by one another to love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10: 23- 25) \n\n\n\nThe Pacific Southwest Region continues to reclaim its mission in acts of mutual support\, even in the face of resisting forces and changing cultures. We live resilient and defiant in hope when we refuse to be moved from our most powerful footing in this world and our communities\, which is love. Join Senior Associate Minister of Coaching for New Church Ministry Rev. Dr. Joi Robinson to celebrate our regional life and share a time of worship\, reflection\, education\, and renewal. \n\n\n\nDOWNLOAD THE PROMOTIONAL FLYER \n\n\n\nPARKING: There are several parking lots and structures located near the Disciples Ministry Center that can be found on this map. \n\n\n\nWATER REFILL STATIONS will be located throughout the venue.
