Let me begin with this: I had an encounter with God at the age 12 that I believe lead me to where I am today.
One afternoon when my mom and dad were not home, I went to the kitchen to get something sweet. I loved grape Kool-Aid, so I felt on top of the refrigerator for a packet, but there was none. I prayed to God and promised if He would provide me with one, I would serve Him for the rest of my life. Well guess what happened? When I swiped the second time, my hand found it. I made Him that promise with hope, and I never plan to break it because of my trust in Him.
The following year, desegregation became the law of the land. Despite this, it was not enforced at the schools I attended. At 13, I found myself being bused to an overcrowded all-Black school where I met a girl whose mission was to get me “saved.” She did just that over a rotary dial phone and I became a product of the Black Baptist Church. It was there that I learned Matthew 6:33 by heart.
I still live by that scripture, trusting and believing that everything will be alright if I continue to seek Him first.
In 2006 a life change happened that lead me to become a member and laborer in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It was not until seven years later that I discovered my niche in ministry. I stumbled into the Tennessee Disciples Women Ministries (DWM) meeting in 2014 where I found my passion, excitement and purpose.

As the Interim Executive Director of Disciples Women Ministries, I am responsible for the general planning for the life and ministry of women in the congregations and regions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. This includes educating and advocating on justice issues, leadership development, and spiritual formation. As the Interim Executive Director, it is my privilege to labor in this work. We strive to provide quality programming with our annual publication Just Women Bible Study, foreign and domestic opportunities through our Woman-to-Woman Worldwide (WTWW) and Women’s Action Web (WAW) programs, and support of Gender Based Violence initiatives such as Thursdays in Black.
There’s no cost to join us. If you are a member of the Disciples of Christ and a woman, then you are part of the Disciples Women Ministries.
